There will be a full house at Pride Park on Monday night to watch the Brian Clough derby, with Derby County and Nottingham Forest arch-rivals who are among those teams battling for automatic promotion this season.

The latter have been in the doldrums for the past few seasons, although Aitor Karanka was given money to spend last summer and the team sit seventh in the Championship table coming into this match.

Karanka is noted for being largely defensive despite a recent 5-5 draw at Aston Villa, with the Tricky Trees having drawn six of their ten away matches thus far and they’ve only been defeated the once.

However, they will have to contend with a partisan atmosphere at a ground that generates a lot of noise, plus the fact that they come off the back of a 1-0 reverse at home to Preston which means the team sit just outside of the play-off places.

Derby are three points better off in fourth place and have been in decent form recently, with the Rams learning to win ugly which was in evidence after recent away wins at Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan.

Six wins from the past ten matches is pretty impressive and Jack Marriott continues to pilfer the goals, with the former Peterborough man now on eight for the season and he’ll be fired up like the rest of the team for this clash.

Mason Mount is back in the team doing what he does best and Frank Lampard now has options off the bench again through the likes of Duane Holmes and Florian Jozefzoon.

Derby will hope to make home advantage count and also have the experience of those big match atmospheres at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, having knocked Manchester United out of the EFL Cup earlier this season.
