Burnley v Wolverhampton Premier League betting preview and tips
When these teams met back in September, Wolverhampton Wanderers won by a 1-0 scoreline although that certainly didn’t tell the full story.
Wolves played Burnley off the park on that Sunday afternoon, with the Midlands side having thirteen shots off target in addition to the seven on target and they were superior throughout the contest.
Nuno’s team have continued to enjoy an upward trajectory, with the side “best of the rest” in seventh place in the Premier League and they look a reasonable bet to win at Turf Moor.
Away stats of 5-5-5 aren’t exactly convincing, although Wanderers have been in good form recently, with Manchester United defeated in the FA Cup before the international break and that followed a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge which was nearly a victory.
Now they will face a Burnley team who were enjoying a mini-resurgence before dropping back into a slump which means they have lost their past four Premier League matches and could still be relegated.
Since beating Spurs at Turf Moor, the Clarets have suffered defeats against Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Leicester City. The latter of these defeats was against a Foxes side who had Harry Maguire sent off in the fourth minute.
Sean Dyche’s side have once again become defensively porous despite the impressive performances of Tom Heaton in goal, with Burnley only just outside the relegation zone and it could be nip and tuck whether they stay up.
With the season finishing with games against Chelsea, Man City, Everton and Arsenal, the next three games are of critical importance to Burnley in terms of their top-flight status and they’re sure to find things tough-going against a defensively resolute Wolves team.
The manager won’t want to see the team succumb as meekly as they did at Huddersfield and, providing that they are up for a scrap, then we can see the visitors enjoying a victory which could plunge their opponents into deep trouble.
