Chelsea v Man City Premier League betting preview and tips
You won’t get many chances to back Manchester City at 1.80 this season although they have been chalked at that price to overcome Chelsea on Saturday teatime, with Pep Guardiola’s side blazing a relentless trail and we fully expect them to land three points at Stamford Bridge.
City have been nearly flawless in the Premier League this season, with Wolves and Liverpool the only team to manage draws against them. A 1-1 scoreline at Molineux failed to tell the story of numerous chances created, while they were a missed penalty away from winning at Anfield.
Aside from that, it’s been a series of routine victories and most opponents haven’t come close to getting a point, with Chelsea having to approach the game carefully despite their manager’s attacking instincts.
The Blues look bound to finish either second or third this season. Maurizio Sarri claims that they are not playing to the same level as City or Liverpool, although the former are on another plane altogether and two previous matches against the Reds this season would suggest that the London side can lay claim for second spot.
This match represents a very tough assignment though. City have a big squad of interchangeable players and haven’t really been affected by the absence of Kevin de Bruyne who was regarded as their best player last season.
The Belgian will be back on his feet in 2019 by which time the team might have stolen a march on their title rivals and they’re likely to eventually overcome a Chelsea side who rely heavily on Eden Hazard when it comes to creativity.
Sarri continues to plough ahead with Jorginho in the holding midfield position and N’Golo Kante playing further forward, with City simply fielding Fernandinho and leaving the other midfield players to be ones who get the ball at their feet and make things happen.
