It might be that Liverpool enjoy a comprehensive Champions League win over Porto on 9 April which means they can focus 100% on this clash against Chelsea and know that a weakened team can get the job done in Portugal the following week.

However, the bottom line is that Jurgen Klopp’s team will have participated in a tough match on the Tuesday and will be up against a Blues team who nearly beat them at Stamford Bridge earlier this term, with Eden Hazard scoring a solo goal before Daniel Sturridge equalised at the death.

Chelsea have had their problems this season and it should be noted that they lost 6-0 at Manchester City shortly after losing 4-0 at Bournemouth, although Maurizio Sarri’s side are likely to be fired up for this trip to Anfield and they did win here in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign.

Eden Hazard might be playing his final few games in a Chelsea shirt although he could pose a few problems for a Liverpool team who are looking nervous as they compete with Manchester City for the title.

There wasn’t a great deal to like about the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Tottenham apart from the result, with Spurs having chances to win the game at Anfield before a freak own goal saw Liverpool escape with the win.

Mohamed Salah is not playing to the same level as last season and Sarri will be confident that his team can snuff out the famed Liverpool front three and know that the midfield can often be flat and short of creativity.

There’s the intriguing prospect of Callum Hudson-Odoi being given a start in this clash, with the England starlet having impressed against Brighton recently and he could pose problems for left-back Andrew Robertson in this game.

Chelsea simply look an appetising prospect on the Asian Handicap market with a +1 goal start which means you’ll get money back if the visitors lose by a single goal.

Liverpool don’t look capable of winning a match by an emphatic scoreline at the moment and Klopp will be content enough with getting the job done in between dealing with Portuguese opposition.
