Southampton have failed to beat Burnley and Leicester City at home this season although it hasn’t stopped the bookies from offering even money about the Saints winning this Monday night encounter.

Mark Hughes is now at the helm after replacing Mauricio Pellegrino last season and the Welshman will be aware that the Hampshire side managed just four home victories for all of last season which got them into an ugly mess.

On the flip side, Brighton were pretty lousy when they played outside the AMEX Stadium last season, with the Seagulls managing to lose twelve of their nineteen encounters and it was just two wins on the road.

Chris Hughton is keen to arrest the slump this time around and a 2-0 defeat at Watford was followed by a 1-0 reverse at Liverpool where the defending was far better and perhaps they will get things right.

It’s clear that the draw offers better value than the home win, with Albion capable of taming a Southampton team who actually managed to win at Crystal Palace a fortnight ago and have Danny Ings looking menacing in attack.

Ings has been on the sidelines for a lot of his career, although there was a reason why Liverpool signed him from Burnley in the first place and this is a player capable of scoring close to twenty goals this term.

We think that Brighton can match their opponents in terms of goals, with Pascal Gross looking typically classy and Glen Murray continuing to work hard for the team and pilfer the goals to keep the Sussex team safe.
