Tip: Tottenham win to nil

Odds: -139

Tottenham are now playing at a brand spanking new White Hart Lane and they broke their duck by beating Crystal Palace in a fairly routine fashion. It was one-way traffic against an Eagles side who had previously won at Manchester City and given Liverpool a scare.

It was vital for Spurs to get off to a winning start on home turf and it’s surely a certainty that the north London side will bag three points against a Huddersfield side who are already relegated and Jan Siewert will be thinking ahead to next season and how the Terriers are going to return to the top flight.

Harry Kane will be particularly keen to start finding the net at the Lane, with Son Heung-Min the first person to score at Tottenham’s new ground, while Mauricio Pochettino is operating with Danny Rose in a more advanced position and we might see him have a big impact.

Rather than back the Spurs win at a short price which needs a serious investment to get a decent return, we’re happy to go with a Tottenham win to nil at a bigger price considering that Huddersfield are unlikely to have much of the ball throughout this contest.

Hugo Lloris might have come in for some criticism this season although Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen offer a solid wall of defence alongside Davinson Sanchez depending on whether the manager decides to fare with two or three at the back.

The only slight issue is that Spurs are playing Manchester City in the Champions League either side of this fixture and there’s a danger that we will see a weakened team step out for this game, although we’re still expecting any Spurs team to have the quality to win this encounter to nil.
