Watford v Brighton Betting Tips
Watford and Brighton clashed on the opening day of the 2018/19 campaign, with the Hornets running out 2-0 winners and Seagulls manager Chris Hughton admitting that his team fell some way short of the required standard.
While Hughton was able to keep Brighton in the Premier League last season, it was a tough struggle against relegation for the most part and he was since been replaced by Graham Potter who was regarded as doing a sterling job in the Championship with Swansea last term.
Potter will clearly be given financial backing by owner Tony Bloom although it has to be regarded as a risky managerial appointment in a competitive division and Watford will certainly be looking at this match as favourable to kick off their campaign.
Javi Gracia took his Hornets side all the way to Wembley in the FA Cup last season and Watford were also able to land a mid-table finish in the Premier League, with form predictably dipping towards the end of the campaign.
The Hornets made a very strong start to last season by winning their opening five matches, with the supporters waiting to see which recruits will be made during the summer although the form of Gerard Deulofeu was the real positive of last season.
Whether Andre Gray or Troy Deeney continue to cut the mustard is anyone’s guess, although Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue add real steel to the midfield department and we’re happy to back the home side to bank an early win.
Brighton have been largely atrocious on the road since they got promoted to the Premier League, with the Seagulls suffering twelve defeats away from home and managing to land just three victories away from the AMEX Stadium.
Aside from Glenn Murray, there weren’t many players chipping in with goals and the best thing to like about the current Brighton side is keeper Matt Ryan who has two man mountains in front of him in Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy.
