West Ham v Arsenal Premier League betting preview and tips
We’ve got a London derby taking place on Saturday lunchtime, with West Ham entertaining Arsenal at the London Stadium and this match could be a good deal closer than the odds suggest.
The Gunners sit fifth in the Premier League table and have a healthy return of 41 points from 21 games played, although this ratio of points currently isn’t enough to secure a Champions League spot and it’s down to having a profligate defence.
While 46 goals have been scored by Unai Emery’s team, 31 have been conceded and 21 have been on the road, with Liverpool recently exposing a defence which hasn’t looked solid at any point in the season.
The Hammers are tenth in the Premier League table, with home stats of 4-2-5 putting us off backing Manuel Pellegrini’s side to actually win the match, although Marko Arnautovic has returned to the first team at exactly the right time.
The Austrian bagged two goals against Brighton and he will be flanked by Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass who are both enjoying excellent form, with the Arsenal defence unlikely to contain those three players although they are strong going forward themselves.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is scoring as many as you might have thought at the beginning of the season, with Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette also doing well this season and the presence of Lucas Torreira in midfield lends a steely edge to the team.
However, the bottom line is that Arsenal have won just four of their ten away matches in the Premier League and we’re not expecting them to overcome West Ham on their own patch.
The Hammers have won five of their previous eight matches and will be fired up for this particular contest, having previously held Chelsea to a goalless draw this season.
