West Ham v Burnley Premier League betting preview and tips
Sean Dyche steered Burnley to seventh in the Premier League last season although eight points from ten matches played is not the ideal start to the campaign and this could be a tough encounter for a team who were cut wide open by Chelsea last weekend.
Getting trounced against the Blues isn’t too much of a surprise although the Lancashire side were soundly beaten and they will arrive at the London Stadium having won just one of their five away games.
That occurred at Cardiff where the Bluebirds certainly had the better chances, with Dyche hoping to see his team provide more compactness although they are getting outdone in terms of expected goals and shots on target in every match they play.
There have been eleven goals scored against Burnley when they have taken to the road this term and West Ham should be capable of landing a win which would cement their mid-table position in the Premier League.
Marko Arnautovic should return from injury and can prove to be a thorn in the side of his opponents, with Felipe Anderson, Robert Snodgrass and Javier Hernandez also offering a scoring threat.
West Ham were minutes away from landing victory at Leicester last week and looked defensively sound, not least because Lukasz Fabianski is so adept between the sticks and there has also been the excellent form of Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop.
While West Ham’s home form of 1-1-3 doesn’t inspire confidence at first glance, they have beaten Manchester United and there was also a strong performance against Spurs which saw them lose 1-0.
Single goal victories at home to Bournemouth and Wolves could have gone the other way and the Hammers also held Chelsea at the London Stadium, so we’re backing them to make their superiority count here.
