Barcelona v Man Utd Champions League betting preview and tips

Champions League
Tip: Barcelona Win to Nil
Units: 1/5
Odds: +175

Barcelona did not produce a vintage performance at Old Trafford although the Spanish champions still left England with a 1-0 advantage thanks to Luke Shaw’s own goal early in the match.

The Catalan side failed to find the net thereafter, although Ernesto Valverde will be pleased enough to have the upper hand for Tuesday’s clash at the Nou Camp, with Manchester United failing to register a shot on target.

Indeed, the Red Devils were set up to keep things tight despite this being the home leg of their quarter final tie, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking a pragmatic approach against a team who can potentially be devastating.

While the Norwegian has called for a repeat of 1999 which saw United defeat Bayern Munich in the Champions League final at the Nou Camp, it seems as though the English team are destined to fall short.

It’s not the fault of Solskjaer who has inherited a squad of players that have either come through the youth ranks or been acquired by either Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal or Jose Mourinho.

It’s hardly a surprise that the team has a dysfunctional look about it, with the new manager having done very well to steer United to this stage of the competition, especially to beat PSG over two legs.

However, this will be a different proposition and we can see a fairly straightforward win for the Catalan side here. Lionel Messi will surely be able to continue to shine on the big stage and conjure up attacking play that could dazzle his opponents.

Barcelona were far from clinical at Old Trafford but left with a 1-0 victory. Another early goal at the Nou Camp could see United having to chase the game and then we could really see the floodgates open and heads drop.

We’re happy to back Barca at lumpy odds to win to nil considering this is a much bigger price than simply backing the home win.
