Manchester City are under a fair bit of pressure following a shock home defeat against Lyon in their Champions League opener, with Pep Guardiola back on the touchline after witness that reverse at the Etihad from the stands.

Guardiola’s micro-management (or lack of) might have been a reason for the reverse against the Ligue 1 side and City can ill-afford another defeat or the words Europa and League will start to be bandied around.

Let’s not forget that City started the competition as outright favourites and perhaps we will see their true colours at the Rhein-Neckar Arena, with Hoffenheim coming into this clash off the back of a morale-boosting 2-2 draw away to Shakhtar.

1899 took the lead twice in the Ukraine before having to settle for a point although they’ll relish the chance to lock horns with English opponents and the team landed third place in the Bundesliga last season.

The reason why they finished third was mainly down to excellent home form which saw them go 11-4-2 on home soil and they would probably take a point from this clash which would send them into a double header against Lyon with a live chance of qualifying.

Manchester City rarely go a game without finding the net and we should expect the visitors to play on the front foot although it might not be one-way traffic and the absence of Kevin de Bruyne is being felt at the moment.

Hoffenheim will know that defending deep isn’t an option considering this might be a bonus campaign in the Champions League and we’re happy to look at both teams scoring rather than opt for any other market.
