After learning that there’s no Robinhood promo code needed to make predictions on the site, I quickly jumped into the site and signed up for a new account, and I was glad to know that a code isn’t really needed.
Robinhood does have a stock reward for new traders, but it doesn’t affect event contracts or prediction markets in general. After checking the reward terms, contract setup, and so on, I’m pleased to say that you can enjoy everything the site has to offer easily. Continue reading as I discuss how you can spice up your experience on the site.
Before we dig deep about the rewards you can get without a promo code, it’s worth getting to know more about Robinhood for a bit. Starting as a commission-free stock trading app in 2013, the app grew fast by making buying stocks easily accessible to people who had never even opened a brokerage app before. Over the years, they added trading, crypto, and cash management features. Prediction markets are the most recent move and are a completely different thing from anything they've done before.
Robinhood first entered the event contracts market in October 2024 during the presidential race. They then launched a full prediction markets hub back in March 2025 inside the app with contracts on the Fed funds rate, college basketball tournaments, and other political markets. Robinhood has since expanded to eleven categories covering everything from economics and crypto to climate and world events.
Robinhood offers a stock reward as a welcome bonus when you sign up, but it's part of the brokerage side of the site and has nothing to do with prediction markets or event contracts. I've seen at least three sites calling it a prediction market bonus similar to the Kalshi promo code, but that's just not how it works.
When you sign up for a Derivatives account at Robinhood, you will get a free stock worth between $5 and $200 after you get approved and link a bank account. 99% of people get the $5 reward, 0.9% get 10%, and only 0.1% get the $200 one. You can use the reward to buy whole or fractional shares from a list of stocks Robinhood makes available. The cash value can't be withdrawn for 30 days after you claim it and the reward expires after 60 days if you don't claim it.
The stock reward doesn't come with any event contract credits or bonus balance for prediction markets, it's a brokerage product and that's it. A few sites try to frame it as a prediction markets bonus but that's simply not true.
Unlike the Polymarket promo code, your bonus can't be used on event contracts directly, but there is a way to get it there with a bit of patience.
According to Robinhood, reward stock can be sold 3 trading days after it's granted. Once you sell it the proceeds sit in your investing account and can go toward other investments. The Derivatives account is also funded through the investing account, so it’s all pretty straightforward.
I want to be clear about this. Robinhood's stock reward is a brokerage bonus only. This means you can route the proceeds into event contracts, but this is more of a happy accident than a deliberate feature. Still, the bottom line here is that it works, and I think it's a nice workaround if you want to try the product without depositing your own money right away.
Event contracts start at $0.01 per share, so even a $5 bonus gives you a decent amount to place multiple positions. It won't fund a heavy trading strategy but it does let you test the markets with money that came from the bonus rather than a deposit, which is a great way to get started.
| Detail | How it works |
|---|---|
| Contract price range | $0.01 to $0.99 |
| Settlement | $1 if correct, $0 if wrong |
| Commission | $0.01 per contract |
| Stock reward sell window | 3 trading days after grant |
| Reward cash withdrawal hold | 30 days |
Here's how to get set up on Robinhood prediction markets from scratch.
Head over to Robinhood through one of the banners on this page to start the sign-up process, it'll take you straight to the account creation page.
You'll go through standard identity verification and account setup. It's quick and I didn't have any issues getting through it.
Once your investing account is open you can search for Prediction Markets in the app. Just open any contract page and select Yes or No to trigger the Derivatives onboarding. The approval process runs through from there and it doesn't take long at all. I was approved and searching contracts within a few minutes.
Event contracts pull from your investing account balance, and I noticed that instant deposits may not always be available for highly volatile trades. That means depending on timing, you might need to wait for a transfer to settle. It only took about a day in my case but it's worth being aware of if you're planning to trade on something time-sensitive.
Head into the prediction markets hub and find an event you want to have a position on. Contracts range between $0.01 to $0.99, and they settle at $1 if you win or $0 if you lose. I would recommend starting with a category you already follow closely, because having some knowledge on the market will give you a better sense of the pricing.
There are eleven categories in the prediction markets hub and I was surprised how far it goes beyond just Robinhood elections.
I spent the most time here and it's the kind of thing you'd normally need a futures account for. You can take positions on events like Fed rate decisions and other macro events.
Political contracts were what Robinhood launched first back in October 2024 and they're still one of the busier parts of the hub. There are also contracts on global events available, but those contracts only tend to pick up volume when something big is happening.
Robinhood sports event contracts are the controversial one drawing some regulatory heat right now. Nevada residents can't currently trade new sports contracts through Robinhood Derivatives, and Robinhood had to suspend a pro football championship market after a CFTC request in February 2025. The contracts are there but it's the one most likely to change depending on how the legal side plays out.
Crypto, climate, companies, tech, science, health, and culture round out the rest, but some of these are thinner on volume than others. I found myself spending a lot of time in the crypto and tech categories because those are areas where I already follow the news closely.

It’s good that you don’t need a Robinhood promo code for prediction markets. However, there may be a plan down the line to add one soon, as it entices more players to try out the site. Still, the stock reward is a good deal you can get on the sign-up process. With just a few tweaks and patience, it can become funds that you can use to make predictions on various markets.
Click the banners on this page to open your Robinhood account, get approved for a Derivatives account, and start looking through the prediction markets hub.
No, Robinhood prediction markets are accessed through the Robinhood Derivatives account.
Yes, but only indirectly. You can sell the stock you received as a bonus after 3 trading days then the proceeds can fund event contract positions.
No, you just sign up for a Robinhood account, get approved, and link your bank account. The stock shows up after that and there's no promo code involved at any point.
Most people get $5 but there's a small chance of getting $10, and a very small chance of $200.
You have to wait 3 trading days after the stock is issued before you can sell it, and the cash from that sale can't be withdrawn for 30 days.
