The social and sweepstakes model now encompasses poker, as you’ll see in my Global Poker review. Poker games join the usual slots and other casino-style games on offer.
I picked up some Gold Coins for joining, with a login to grab too. I’ll cover the usability, customer service features, and format of the site here. If you’re a poker fan, there’s plenty to enjoy at Global Poker.
The full breakdown of - particularly the welcome offer - is available via the Global Poker welcome offer and bonus review, so you can get the facts there. I can say, though, that even though the focus is on playing poker-style games, you can still expect to receive a signup - currently 5,000 Gold Coins for joining the site.
The site includes a tournaments and promotions section at the top, inside the main menu, so you can review that to see what’s on offer. I spotted weekly tournaments and championships, but I still found a daily sign-in to claim for the regular games. There are plenty of differences here compared with the Pulsz review, but that makes sense given the poker theme. It simply puts a poker spin on the social casino model, and it works well.
Assessing the usability of a site is essential, I think, because you want to be able to move around and find whatever you need there. Global Poker makes light work of leading you to its many social games, including several forms of poker. There’s ample information about sweepstakes rules, tournaments, and other promotions - so much so, you can spend plenty of time looking around before thinking about joining.
I’ve spotted other social casinos before that are thin on the ground with info and support until you sign up, but that is not the case here. My Global Poker review was always going to cover this aspect, and it certainly doesn’t adopt a secretive members-only stance. That said, once you are on the inside, you’ll find it just as convenient to settle in and look around.
I found it had one of the best site designs I have seen for a while in the social and sweepstakes arena. All those useful links in the menu bar and at the bottom of the site are always there to refer to, with the help center just a click or a tap away. The site offers a solid look that supports this amount of information, too, so it’s a great site to check out for several reasons.
If you’ve read a few reviews here, such as the WOW Vegas review for example, you will know there is always a section that delves into the availability (or not) of an app to download for Android or iOS devices. I find this is one of the trickiest areas to predict, since some social casinos decide to avoid apps altogether and choose to create a fully-featured mobile-friendly site to visit instead.
So, what did I find at Global Poker? Having visited the App Store and Google Play, I did find an app in each - but it is the Global Poker Clock app. As things go, it does have solid reviews on both, but it is not a mobile version of the regular website. Instead, it is a management utility app designed to help you keep track of all current and future blinds when you are enjoying their social poker games. It does reduce the chances of missing something, but I wonder how many players will use it - or even know about it.
Fortunately, the official website looks the business no matter how you decide to view it. I visited a series of pages and found each one loaded quickly, which certainly helps things run smoothly. I could access all the information I required, whether on a tablet or smartphone. Unlike some sites, I noted very little difference in design across the platforms when compared with a desktop computer. So, it’s probably best to think of the Clock app as an extra if you want it.
Social casinos - and yes, the poker-focused site I’m reviewing here too - do not offer Purchases or Redeemals, but you still need to know a little about the payment situation. I soon noted that I did not need to purchase anything to play at Global Poker. This is in common with similar sites. As usual, however, I could purchase additional Gold Coins if I wanted to. Gold Coins have no value and can only be used to play the social poker games and other casino-style games on the site. You cannot purchase any SweepsSweeps Coins since this would go against sweepstakes rules, although you might be able to pick up some as a freebie if purchasing Gold Coins.
I noted that Global Poker offers a wider range of payment methods than I’ve seen at other sites. There are three sections in the purchase area for the Store. These cover cards, online banking methods, and e-Accounts like Skrill. The exact methods you may be able to access might depend on your location, particularly if you are in Canada rather than the US, for example. The help center provides instructions on how to purchase some Gold Coins using any of the available methods, so you can read through the purchase section there first if you require any insight. Again, you never need to purchase anything or use any payment method, but there’s a lot of info and support should you decide to do so.
Global Poker has a long landing page that provides tons of details about the site and how it works. However, I was impressed by the links and sheer amount of help and support on offer when I strayed beyond the homepage, too. In particular, the support area in the menu at the top of the site reveals several crucial areas you should know more about:
The Getting Started section is perfect to read before you join, as it takes you through some of the most important things you need to know about. These include creating and verifying your account. However, I love seeing a help center at any type of casino - Social casinos included - as they are generally packed with details. This example was no different, hence why I am including it in this Global Poker review.
Once through to that section, I found a search box at the top of the page, along with a few popular searches I could select if I wanted. Below that, there were some promoted articles, followed by four sections that included information on basics, promos, and plenty more.
You can access this without being a member of the site, so if you have anything you’d like to ask about how the virtual tokens work, the social and sweepstakes format, and so on, the answers are there. Scroll right to the bottom and you can submit a request if you can’t find what you want.
Finally, the full set of sweepstakes rules are linked from the bottom of the main website, so you’ve got those to read too. I would give top marks to the customer service on offer there, so it’s another positive section to add to my Global Poker review.
Licensing doesn’t work the same way it does when assessing Social casinos. That’s because Global Poker follows the social and sweepstakes format, and therefore must adhere to all current sweepstakes rules. Licensing info generally sits at the bottom of any site, in the footer there, and I did find plenty of small print to squint at. VGW GP Limited operates the site, with the sweepstakes element managed by VGW Games Limited.
They do have a license issued by the Malta Gaming Authority, so you can check the details of that there if you wish. There is also a registered address, and honestly, the detail provided is way more than I’ve seen in reviews of other sites. Not all Global Poker reviews handle this licensing detail, but I believe it is important to provide it here.
Having spent some time exploring the site to enable me to compile this Global Poker review, I found no sign of a rewards or VIP program to look forward to. That said, I don’t think the site is any less engaging for the lack of one. I’ve found a real mix of sites in the Social casino format that fall on either side of the fence in this respect. You’ll see this if you read some of the other reviews here, including the Chumba Casino review, for example.
The tournaments and promotions area of the site provides you with three segments - covering tournaments, championships, and promotions. That’s the section to keep track of to learn more about any current promos that offer different rewards. Most notably, though, the login bonus is the easiest one to claim. I had to verify my ID first, as only verified players can claim this , but you’ll need to do that anyway if you want to check out the sweepstakes mode of play on the site. All told, I think I can end this section of my Global Poker review in a positive way, too, given that promos are available to replace the lack of a VIP program.
Yes - it is operated by the VGW Group. They’re behind a couple of other successful social casinos too, although the focus at Global Poker is obvious from its name.
The best Play is to read their current set of Global Poker Sweeps Rules. These confirm that you can use the site if you live in any of 46 out of 50 US states, excluding Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Michigan. You can also play if you are from any part of Canada except for Quebec.
Yes, they provide a selection of slots and table games, providing casino-style gaming to try in Playween playing their poker games.
Yes, you will need to verify your identity before you can play at the site. You’ll need a photo ID and proof of address to confirm who you are and where you are based. Only those from accepted jurisdictions can play at Global Poker.
One Sweeps Coin has a redemption value of $1 USD. You can only redeem SweepsSweeps Coins winnings, and you must have at least Sc50 to be able to redeem them for a prize as per their sweepstakes rules.
Poker games are often minimal if covered at all when you visit social casinos. Perhaps that’s why VGW decided to create the Global Poker website. It certainly fills a gap in this market, and plenty of poker fans have signed up to play there. Since it adheres to sweepstakes rules, it is only available in 46 US states and most of Canada, apart from Quebec. That said, it still covers a potential audience of millions. If you fall within that audience, you can see what you think of the poker games on offer there. I found it a solidly-built, appealing, and enjoyable site to visit and use, so maybe you’ll think along the same Winning play lines.
That was the first surprise I noticed at Global Poker. While the name confirms this is predominantly a poker-style social casino, it also offers some slots and table games to play. The site offers a games area, where I found six versions of social poker, including Texas Hold ‘Em and Omaha High/Low.
There is an area for private games too. Aside from that, I noted a section for the slots, along with another for social table games. As I explored further, I realized that each poker section came with rules and explanations for how it all worked. They even have images of various poker hands, so if you’re new to poker games, as I was, you will soon get the gist of what’s happening. I’d recommend starting with social poker as that is the ideal way to gain some experience - and Global Poker is the best place to get some.
While the focus is firmly on poker, there are some things I instantly recognized when I got started there to help me write my Global Poker review. One example involves the virtual tokens, with Gold Coins and SweepsSweeps Coins both turning up there. As usual, you can use the Gold Coins to play all the social games, whereas the SweepsSweeps Coins are fine to use if you wish to try and win further SC to then redeem them for a real prize. This is the only way you can redeem anything at Global Poker - play using SweepsSweeps Coins, and if you win some, you can redeem those SweepsSweeps Coins winnings for a real prize.
The current welcome offer provides newcomers with 5,000 Gold Coins when signing up, but there’s a login on the way as well. This helps keep you ticking over and amassing some more virtual tokens to play the social poker games and tournaments with. Using the familiar names for the virtual tokens makes life easier, I think; there are no alternative names to remember as there are in the FortuneSweeps Coins review.
The overarching feeling I can leave you with here is that this site is packed with information. They clearly know some people won’t possess as much knowledge about the game of poker - and its variations - as others, so they’re catering for every audience. It’s easy to look around and learn more about the social poker site before you sign up, but the education keeps on coming beyond that point. I found it to be a refreshing alternative to the more familiar social sites packed with slots-style games and little else.
