Copenhagen Bidding to Land Fourth Danish Superliga Title in Five Seasons
FC Copenhagen are clearly the strongest team in Denmark right now. They stormed to the 2021-22 title with a return of sixty-eight points and followed this up with another success a year later. After missing out two campaigns ago, they were then able to secure a 2024-25 title. It’s little surprise that the team from the Danish capital are odds-on favourites to become champions again.
FCK only finished second in the regular standings last term, although they were then able to thrive in the Championship stage to finish just above Midtjylland. Jacob Neestrup’s side were able to bridge a gap of four points to edge out their title rivals, with the defence being their strongest aspect of the team.
There are some star performers for Copenhagen and that includes Jordan Larsson who won the Player of the Month in May, while there are also progressive young players in the form of Orri Oskarsson and Viktor Froholdt. The latter’s performance levels improved as the season wore on and he landed several accolades.
However, there could be value looking outside of the champions. Midtjylland will have felt that they were in pole position after the regular standings last term. At that stage, they were four points better off than the eventual champions. Fourteen wins and three draws were landed from twenty-two games although they could only win five championship matches.
There are a couple of notable sharp shooters within the ranks, with Adam Buska and Franculino Dju having both landed double figure returns. Mikel Gorgoza is also a talented young operator for this season’s title challengers, with Thomas Thomasberg having been in charge at the club since 2023. He has previously experience title success as a player when twice becoming champions at AaB.
There are two other sides who could be in the running and they include Brondby. The boys from Vestegnen have only enjoyed one recent title success. That came in 2020-21, with the team only just qualifying for the championship round last term. It was a poor return of thirty-three points from twenty-two games played before a positive uplift to finish third at the end.
Frederik Birk will aim to improve the fortunes of Brondby, with the previous assistant manager being promoted from within. Since January 2025, there were six wins, seven draws and four defeats in the space of seventeen games. Mathias Kvistgaarden was high on the scoring charts last term and his goals could help them be title challengers this time around.
Nordsjælland was fifth in the regular Superliga standings last term and they were unable to make any progress in the championship round, although the top bookies think that there’s an outside chance that they can challenge for honours. Jens Fønsskov Olsen’s side will need to find some way of improving the team although they won’t have the distraction of European football this time around.
