The 2025/26 Premier League fixtures have just been released and the first match of the season takes place at Anfield. On Friday 15 August, champions Liverpool begin their title defence against AFC Bournemouth.

Arne Slot’s side were runaway winners last term, comfortably landing the crown by ten points in the end. However, they face a tricky trip to St James’ Park when they first take to the road next season. Then comes an equally tough clash against Arsenal back at Anfield before heading to Turf Moor to clash with newly-promoted Burnley.

Manchester City will hope to bounce back after previously winning four consecutive Premier League titles. Pep Guardiola’s side begin their title challenge with a trip to Molineux to face a Wolves side who improved towards the end of last season. They will then host Tottenham Hotspur before heading to the AMEX Stadium.

Meanwhile, Arsenal head to Old Trafford for their curtain-raiser and that match will surely get top billing in Game Week One. Manchester United will hope to improve under Ruben Amorim after a challenging previous campaign, with the Gunners then hosting Leeds United before that difficult assignment at Anfield.

Other opening weekend fixtures include a Saturday lunchtime clash between Aston Villa and Newcastle United, teams who will want to be challenging for the top four again this season. Brighton host Fulham, with Nottingham Forest locking horns with a Brentford side who have just lost Thomas Frank.

Newly-promoted Sunderland have been handed a winnable home clash against West Ham, while Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur are warm favourites to beat Burnley. On Sunday 17 August, we have a London derby at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea clash with FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.

The top betting sites give Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal a fairly equal chance of landing the title next season. It’s the champions who are slight favourites and they’ve just completed the big money signing of Florian Wirtz.

However, City have a stronger track record in the past five seasons and Guardiola might successfully be able to rebuild his squad over the summer now that players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker are no longer part of the set-up.

As for Arsenal, the perennial bridesmaids under Mikel Arteta will hope to be in the shake-up come the end of the season. They have a favourable run-in in May which involves games against Fulham, West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace. This will give encouragement to supporters that it could be their season.
