Lech Poznan and Legia Warsaw Set for Polish Ekstraklasa Showdown
The 2025-26 Polish Ekstraklasa looks set to feature a competitive title encounter, with three teams all trading at a similar price to become champions at the top football betting sites. Lech Poznan were able to finish top of the standings in Poland’s top domestic flight last term and they are the marginal favourites to retain their crown over the coming months.
Niels Frederiksen takes charge of the Railwaymen, with the former Brondby manager hoping to land a double success. The 54-year-old is a popular figure at the Poznan Stadium and guided the team to seventy points last term, with the team able to win twenty-two of their thirty-four matches.
Lech Poznan were also the division’s top scorers last term with sixty-eight goals, with Swede Mikael Ishak having surpassed the twenty mark and he is expected to go well again. Afonso Sousa is another smooth operator and the Portuguese player was able to score thirteen times for the champions last term.
Raków Częstochowa narrowly missed out on becoming champions last term. The Medallions won their maiden title in the 2022-23 season and have become major players in the Ekstraklasa. Marek Papszun is a safe pair of hands and came desperately close to landing the spoils in the zondacrypto Arena and they are regarded as leading contenders this time around.
Papszun is a keen believer in having a strict defence and this was in action when twenty-three goals were conceded in thirty-four games. It made them comfortably the strongest rearguard in the division, with the team also losing the lowest number of games. However, they still managed to finish agonisingly short.
Jonatan Braut Brunes was one of the star performers for the team last term and the Norwegian can certainly run in a few more goals this time around. Leonardo Rocha is a talented Portuguese player who can also boost the goal tally although we can be certain that a strong defence is going to be in force once again.
Legia Warsaw have been out of the winners’ enclosure for the past four seasons, with the team previously landing back to back titles in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 season. Since their fifteenth title success, they have fallen short and last year was a really disappointing campaign when finishing fifth in the standings.
Legia were only able to win fifteen of their games which led to only fifty-four points being garnered, with head coach Edward Iordănescu aiming to improve on the club’s fortunes. He comes into the role after previously being in charge of Romania’s national side, with the team needing a sharp shooter to compete.
Pogoń Szczecin could also be players and the odds suggest that they have an outside chance of improving on fourth position and becoming champions. However, they did suffer ten defeats last season and the new coach has plenty of work on his hands.
