Ghana v Tunisia Betting Tips
It’s hard to make a strong case for either of these teams to win this Africa Cup of Nations last sixteen encounter. Ghana are trading as the favourites although the Black Stars didn’t exactly convince during the group stage and only managed to win one of their matches.
While James Kwesi Appiah’s side finished top of Group F, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Benin before a goalless draw against Cameroon. In the final match of the section, the Ghanaians were able to beat Guinea-Bissau who were the team that exited at the group stage.
On paper, Ghana look like a strong team, with plenty of speculation surrounding the future of midfielder Thomas Partey who has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Atletico Madrid. Jordan Ayew and Andre Ayew are also a lively attacking threat, with the brothers having both scored against Benin.
However, the team did lose to Namibia before drawing with South Africa in the build-up to this tournament and we can’t really have confidence in them winning this encounter against a streetwise Tunisia side who haven’t tasted defeat in Egypt thus far.
While the Eagles of Carthage were expected to win Group E, they were held to 1-1 draws by Angola and Mali before playing out a goalless draw against Mauritania which was their worst performance of the tournament.
Improvement will be needed against tougher opponents, although their showings at the 2018 World Cup illustrate that they can handle teams with more quality and the role of being underdog might suit them better here.
We were looking at Under 2.5 Goals as we expect this knockout match to be a cagey encounter, although the odds seem so prohibitive so we’ll instead focus our efforts on backing the draw instead.
It’s noticeable that the price about the draw is trading short and we think that extra-time is a distinct possibility.
