Sometimes Cardiff will go for broke. Their three previous three matches were against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City which explains why they conceded a shedload of goals.

On other occasions, the Bluebirds will look at the fixture as a winnable one and Saturday’s match against Burnley certainly falls into that category, with this match representing an opportunity for Neil Warnock’s side to land three precious points.

Burnley arrive in south Wales off the back of a 4-0 win against Bournemouth, with the Clarets having previously looked down in the dumps following a spate of poor results although there were smiles on everyone’s faces after thrashing the Cherries.

The simple explanation is that Burnley have taken a while to adjust to their season after the Europa League distraction and they have also had injury problems, not to mention some difficult opponents.

A fit Johann Berg Gudmundsson is also a welcome boost for the team although Burnley are still a pragmatic side who will be wary of avoiding a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show following the thumping of the Cherries.

Cardiff are chronically short of goals this season and have managed to bag an average of half a goal per game at the moment. 66.6% of those came in one game against Arsenal and perhaps Kenneth Zohore will be brought back into the fold to try and pinch a winner.

It wouldn’t be a complete surprise to see this game end in a goalless draw, with the Clarets looking for a victory which would propel the Lancashire side back up the table although another clean sheet will be the order of the day and goalkeeper Joe Hart is in excellent form.
