Real Madrid backed to win Champions League
Real Madrid won the 2015/16 Champions League after earning a series of kind draws and their good fortune continued on 12 December when Zinedine Zidane’s team were paired with Napoli.
The bookies reacted by cutting the European champions to a best price 6.00 with Ladbrokes . They will be expected to overcome their Naples opponents although the latter did win their qualifying group. The Italian side are a 5.00 chance with Unibet to make it to the last eight.
Barcelona are favourites to win the 2016/17 Champions League with most firms and they won’t be too disappointed with the draw against Paris Saint-Germain, even if there were easier opponents at this stage.
Luis Enrique’s side are 4.33 with bet365 and that’s partly due to the liabilities on a team who are playing catch-up in La Liga and might at some stage decide to focus wholeheartedly on this competition.
Bayern Munich are a 5.50 chance (Unibet ) to win the competition and manager Carlo Ancelotti is a highly experienced coach in this tournament, although the Italian has had a turbulent start to life at the Allianz Arena even if the Bavarian side have hit the top of the Bundesliga.
After the front three in the betting, there is then a gap to Atletico Madrid, although Diego Simeone’s side have been handed a gift-wrapped last sixteen tie in the form of Bayer Leverkusen.
Ladbrokes go 10.00 about a win for Atleti, with Los Colchoneros capable of going all the way in this competition as they have demonstrated in the past three seasons.
Manchester City are a 12.00 chance and the consensus seems to be that they will overcome Monaco next spring, although the French side could be completely underrated this term and they are a big 4.33 with William Hill to qualify.
Borussia Dortmund are 13.00 (bet365) to claim the spoils this season and Thomas Tuchel’s side do have a kind draw by virtue of drawing a Benfica side who finished second behind Napoli.
Juventus are a 15.00 chance with bet365 and perhaps the Turin side have been overlooked in the betting considering they won a tough group and they couldn’t have hand-picked a better opponent in Porto.
Sevilla are also a nice price at 41.00 (bet365) with the Spanish side drawing Leicester in the last sixteen stage of the competition they’re expected to make it through.
