Bookmakers slash Chelsea’s title odds
Chelsea now fourth favourites to win 2016/17 Premier League title after 4-0 victory.
Chelsea are just a point off the Premier League summit following an impressive 4-0 win against Manchester United, with the bookies slashing the Blues’ odds after they dished out a thrashing to the Red Devils.
A couple of weeks ago, Chelsea were 19.00 to win the title this season, with Liverpool and Arsenal both enjoying victories against Antonio Conte’s side.
However, the Italian appears to have found a winning formation and William Hill offer a best price 7.50 that the London side reclaim the title of two seasons ago, with the squad looking motivated under their new manager.
Eyebrows were raised when David Luiz returned to Stamford Bridge although the Brazilian has performed well as part of a three-man central defence, while N’Golo Kante is emulating the performance levels that helped Leicester City achieve the most unlikeliest of title triumphs.
Eden Hazard was PFA Player of the Season last term and the Belgian is looking sharp at the moment, while Diego Costa is producing controlled performances in attack which has so far seen him avoid a suspension.
On the flip side, Manchester United are now 21.00 with bet365 to win the title and they don’t look equipped to become champions even at this early stage of the campaign.
Jose Mourinho’s side might face a battle to claim a top four spot this term, with Paul Pogba once again disappointing in a midfield position and the defence were easily broached even with the impressive David de Gea between the sticks.
Manchester City are 2.50 with BetVictor and the bookies clearly think that Pep Guardiola’s side are the team to beat this season despite the fact that they have failed to win any of their past five matches.
Pep Guardiola isn’t afraid to make changes to the personnel within his squad and they do have Champions League distractions this term, with Liverpool continuing to shorten for the title and they’re into 4.50 (bet365).
The Reds beat West Brom on Saturday and have no European football to distract them this season, with Jurgen Klopp looking to enlarge his squad in January, even with attacking options like Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi on the bench.
Tottenham Hotspur are 12.00 with bet365 for the win and Arsenal are 7.00 for the title, with the bookies anticipating that five different teams can win the Premier League although Manchester United are not one of them.
