Derby County have proved that they are up for the cup this season after beating Manchester United and Southampton in the EFL Cup and FA Cup respectively.

The Rams stormed back from 2-0 down against the Saints on two occasions to earn a penalty shootout and the Championship side went through on spot kicks as was the case when they previously visited Old Trafford.

Now Frank Lampard’s team have a different type of assignment when they travel to the Crown Ground on Saturday lunchtime, with Derby keen to further their interest in the competition despite the heavy focus on getting promoted to the Premier League this term.

Lampard has encouraged his team to play fluent attacking football and they will clearly be serving it up against a side who sit in a respectable mid-table position in League One after enjoying promotion from League Two last season.

Accrington have already beaten a Championship side in the FA Cup when defeating Ipswich Town, with Colchester and Cheltenham beaten in the earlier rounds and John Coleman will relish the chance for his team to pull off another upset.

Stanley are not in the best of form and they suffered heavy defeats against Peterborough and Bradford during the turn of the year, although striker Billy Kee has reached double figures for the season and Luke Armstrong has recently arrived from Middlesbrough on loan after some bright performances for Gateshead.

Accrington won’t be bothered about keeping the game tight for a cup tie where there could be a big prize at stake, while Derby have seen forty goals scored in fourteen away encounters.

We’re looking forward to an open tussle although the attacking merits of the Rams should see Harry Wilson, Martyn Waghorn and Jack Marriott enjoy themselves in front of goal.
