It’s been a fairly poor season for Brentford who were expected to mount a promotion charge after a bright start to the campaign, although the departure of Dean Smith to Aston Villa has left the Bees struggling to find their feet.

Until recently, it was just one win in sixteen games for the London side although brighter times are now ahead after an unbeaten run of six matches which include Championship wins over Bolton and Stoke along with an FA Cup triumph against Oxford.

Thomas Frank’s side have been given an intriguing fourth round tie at The Hive where they will clash with a Barnet side fresh from winning at Sheffield United in the last round of the competition and they’ll fancy their chances of pinching this one.

Darren Currie’s side are in excellent form at the moment, having won eight of their past twelve matches and we shouldn’t be fooled by their fifteenth position in the National League considering there are plenty of games in hand.

It has been five matches at The Hive since Barnet last lost a game there, with Shaquile Coulthirst now back from injury and he’ll be looking to find the net after converting from the spot at Bramall Lane.

It’s not very often that Barnet play in front of a full house at home and they will be up against a team who are clearly better player for player although this is a cold night of January FA Cup football where sleeves have to be rolled up.

We’re not sure the collective mentality will be enough for Brentford to get over the line and will back the game to finish all square, with Barnet having the blueprint for how to win this game after beating the Blades.

Indeed, this represents an easier assignment on paper, with the visitors having failed to win on the road in the league this season.
