Swansea v Man City FA Cup betting preview and tips
Swansea are just one of two Championship sides who have made their way to the last eight stage of the FA Cup, with Graham Potter’s side enjoying an emphatic 4-1 win over Brentford in the previous round of the competition after beating Gillingham and Aston Villa.
The Welsh side aren’t pulling up any trees in the Championship and have reached this round of the FA Cup largely because of the fairly easy route through rather than demonstrating any real giant-killing ability.
Oliver McBurnie is a lively operator in front of goal and might give the home supporters something to cheer about, while Daniel James has as astonishing turn of pace and scored a real beauty against Brentford which he’ll look to emulate in this round.
However, they are coming up against a team who are chasing down the prospect of landing the quadruple, with Manchester City having already bagged the EFL Cup by beating Chelsea in the final.
Pep Guardiola’s side have also had it easy in this competition and there wasn’t a lot to do in order to overcome Newport in the previous round, with City happy to be returning to south Wales and ultimately avoiding the other five top flight teams in the competition.
Guardiola is likely to give a few of his leading lights a rest for this encounter and put trust into fringe players such as Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden, with the team having enjoyed a wealth of domestic cup experience this term.
We should expect Manchester City to rack up a few goals in this encounter, with the Swans still effectively recovering from that relegation from the Premier League last May and there’s likely to be a gulf in class between the teams.
However, we can see Swansea finding the net in what should be a high-scoring victory for the visitors.
