Tottenham v Middlesbrough Betting Tips & Predictions
Middlesbrough were able to hold Tottenham in their original FA Cup tie at the Riverside Stadium and we’re expecting Jonathan Woodgate’s team to give a good account of themselves at White Hart Lane on Tuesday 14 January.
The Championship side have been enjoying some excellent form in the second tier recently and they took the lead against Spurs early in the second half only to be pegged back. However, the Teeside outfit have only tasted defeat once since the beginning of December and this tie could be far from over.
A replay is the last thing that Jose Mourinho needs at this stage of the football season. Tottenham follow this match with a weekend trip to Vicarage Road before hosting Norwich a few days later, while a Champions League double header against Leipzig is looming large on the horizon.
Mourinho actually fielded a strong team for the original tie but can ill afford to do the same thing here and we quite like backing the visitors with a two-goal advantage considering that you would get money back if they lost by a two goal margin.
Anything better than that for Middlesbrough would mean a profitable bet and Spurs will simply be looking to get the job done, with the game coming shortly after a tough ordeal at home to high-flying Liverpool which is sure to cause the manager to rest a few tired players.
Previously to the 1-1 draw in the original tie, Boro had kept three consecutive clean sheets and they now have a settled side that work hard for each other, with Tomas Mejias acquitting himself well in goal on his debut and he might provide some more inspiration in this tie.
