Tottenham v Southampton Betting Tips & Predictions
Tottenham Hotspur might have enjoyed a fantastic 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday although we’re surprised that the bookies make Jose Mourinho’s team such hot favourites to overcome Southampton on Wednesday night.
While Mourinho would dearly love to win silverware during his first season at White Hart Lane, we’re not entirely convinced they are banker material to beat a Saints side who were a lot better at Anfield than the 4-0 scoreline suggested.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have recently worked their way out of trouble and they have been especially potent on the road in recent weeks, landing victories at Aston Villa, Chelsea, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
Southampton don’t have another game for eleven days after this fixture, so the visitors are likely to be at full-strength and that team is likely to include the talented Moussa Djenepo along with the in-form Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings.
Tottenham will be missing Harry Kane and Dele Alli for this encounter, while the team have quite a short turnaround time after facing City on Sunday and we think they can be opposed for an FA Cup encounter which is likely to be close.
New signing Steven Bergwijn is likely to continue in midfield, with Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura continuing to lead the line although this could be a tough ordeal against a Southampton team who seem to have the blueprint for away matches at the moment.
You can back the Saints with a one-goal start and that means money back if they lose the game by a single goal, although we think they are capable of either forcing extra-time or alternatively simply winning in normal time.
