Watford v Crystal Palace FA Cup betting preview and tips
It’s not very often that Watford or Crystal Palace reach the last eight stage of the FA Cup, with the two Premier League sides now battling it out for the chance to reach the semi-finals and a chance to walk out at Wembley.
In truth, there is little between these two teams despite the fact that the Hornets have a superior points tally, with Javi Gracia’s side slight favourites to claim victory here although that’s mainly down to the fact that they’re the home side.
Watford have won a modest six matches at Vicarage Road this term and failed to win on the other seven occasions, with only seventeen goals scored and they have amassed as many points on the road.
Similarly, Crystal Palace seem to fit the mould of away team better than home team due to the Eagles landing four more points at the time of writing, with Roy Hodgson’s team good at soaking up the pressure and counter-attacking to good effect.
It’s fair to say that Palace have been improving as the season has worn on and there was plenty to like about a recent 4-1 win at Leicester which really showcased all that is good about this team.
Wilfried Zaha will be the most talented player on the pitch, with Andros Townsend also having a good season and there are striker options in the form of Christian Benteke and Michy Batshuayi.
Watford are another defensively robust team thanks to the presence of Etienne Capoue and Abdoulaye Doucoure in the midfield engine room and we can see the two teams cancelling each other out in this game.
The prize of an FA Cup semi-final is not to be underestimated and whichever team scores the opening goal could be content to try and sit on their lead and make sure they get home.
