Watford v Wolverhampton FA Cup betting preview and tips
There has been little to separate Watford and Wolves in the Premier League this season and perhaps they will play out a close encounter in this FA Cup semi-final.
While the bookmakers have Wolverhampton Wanderers as favourites to win at Wembley, both teams have played thirty games at the time of writing and the Midlands side are only a point better off.
Wolves have beaten two of the biggest English clubs to reach the last four of the competition, overcoming a weakened Liverpool team in the third round before more recently defeating Manchester United.
Nuno Espirito Santo has done an outstanding job since taking charge at Molineux and an FA Cup final appearance would really cement the Portuguese manager as one of the greatest that has ever taken charge of this famous club.
However, it was Watford who won at Molineux when the teams clashed in October and it’s been noticeable that Wolves often struggle against clubs outside of the top six.
The Hornets have been better at playing the role of flat-track bullies, with Javi Gracia’s side having beaten Crystal Palace 2-1 at the quarter final stage of the competition and they’ll be pleased enough with this draw which has seen them avoid Manchester City.
Watford have won five of their past seven games at the time of writing, with the team having enjoyed a fantastic season and it appears that the club will finally get some continuity under their Spanish manager.
It’s entirely possible that both teams will rest players in the lead-up to this clash which is a massive game and an opportunity to play in an FA Cup final against probable opposition in the form of Manchester City.
We can see it being a tight affair and Watford can be taken on the Asian Handicap at a decent price, with a draw or Watford win meaning that we land a profit.
