No sooner had Watford FC climbed out of the relegation zone than they find themselves back in the bottom three of the Premier League table, with Saturday’s 3-2 reverse at home to Everton seeing the Hornets race into a two-goal lead before somehow conspiring to fritter it away.

Nigel Pearson has still done a wonderful job since taking charge at the Hertfordshire club, although things have gone awry since a 3-0 win at Bournemouth, with a goalless draw against Tottenham being followed by defeats against Aston Villa and the Toffees.

Watford now head to the AMEX Stadium hoping to improve on away form that has seen them take two wins in twelve games, although their opponents are hardly pulling up any trees and Brighton are actually without a victory in 2020.

Graham Potter has a sizeable contract at the Sussex club although the Seagulls have won just four of their twelve home games and it’s hard to be confident about an Albion win considering they were trailing 3-1 at West Ham last weekend before claiming a point.

Previously to this, there was a 3-1 defeat at Bournemouth which illustrates that the defence are leaking a huge number of goals at the moment, with Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster not proving to be particularly watertight as a central defensive partnership.

Brighton are just two points above the drop zone and few expected them to be faring so badly after that fabulous 3-0 win at Vicarage Road in their first game of the season, although this is simply a relegation six-pointer.

Watford will regard this match as one not to lose and it could be a case of going back to defensive basics, with the Hornets worth a tentative bet on the Asian Handicap at the prices.
