Everton actually sit below Crystal Palace in the Premier League table at the time of writing and yet the bookmakers have the Toffees as odds-on favourites to overcome the Eagles on Saturday 8 February.

We’re slightly puzzled by this price considering that the Merseyside team have only won 50% of their matches at Goodison Park and they clash with opponents who have avoided defeat in 66% of their matches on the road.

Palace recently served it up at the Etihad Stadium and earned a 2-2 draw against Manchester City, with Roy Hodgson’s side once again illustrating that they are more of a threat away from Selhurst Park rather than on home soil.

Both teams have been fairly short of goals over the past few weeks and we think the best way to play this game could be the goals market. You can bet on Under 2.5 Goals and go for two goals or less to be scored during the contest which looks plausible.

Everton have certainly tightened up defensively since Carlo Ancelotti took charge of the team, despite that aberration against Newcastle when the home side led 2-0 going into injury time before the game ended 2-2.

The Toffees have conceded little more than an average of one goal per game in front of their own fans, with Brighton, Burnley and Arsenal among the teams who have recently been shut out.

Palace were recently unable to score against Southampton and it’s been another season where the team have suffered from a striker shortage, with Jordan Ayew having persevered in attack although he’s only managed six goals.

Go for a low goal count at Goodison Park between two teams who are getting to the stage of the season where there is little to play for.
