Newcastle v Arsenal betting preview and tips
Newcastle have only landed one Premier League point thus far, with the Magpies having been beaten by Tottenham and Chelsea at home, while they were also edged out by Manchester City at the Etihad.
All three of those defeats were by a single goal which is no mean feat, especially the latter defeat and Rafael Benitez will just wish that Kenedy has dispatched that late penalty at Cardiff to bank the three points and not have the Tyneside club pinned to the bottom three.
This match against Arsenal represents a definite chance for Newcastle to get more points on the board and Benitez will be encouraged by what he’s seen from Unai Emery’s side so far.
The Gunners are bidding for a third successive win but the previous two victories have hardly been convincing, with West Ham serving it up at the Emirates Stadium before losing 3-1. Then came a pulsating encounter at Cardiff where the Bluebirds went close to getting a point before losing 3-2.
Emery’s side might be full of goals but they have also conceded eight goals in their previous four games and that’s an average of two per match.
The manager decided to rest Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the Cardiff encounter and deploy Alexandre Lacazette which worked out pretty well considering the Frenchman was highly influential on the pitch.
However, Newcastle are getting plenty of experience from competing against the elite and perhaps they can wangle at least a draw from this one.
