Newcastle v Chelsea Premier League betting preview and tips
Newcastle United seem to be a club in constant crisis. In recent years, this has been on the pitch which has seen the Magpies drop into the Championship on several occasions, although the team are currently in the top flight after landing tenth place last term.
It would be a fantastic achievement to emulate that finish this time around, with Rafael Benitez at loggerheads with owner Mike Ashley as always. The latter would love to sell the club over the next twelve months and certainly doesn’t have a long-term vision as a result.
Benitez is on a lucrative contract which means the Spaniard is unlikely to walk, although it becomes increasingly tough to challenge in the top flight and this could be a difficult game for a Newcastle team who were beaten 2-1 at home to Tottenham on the opening day.
Chelsea laid down a marker when winning 3-0 at Huddersfield in their first match and will come into the clash at St James’ Park after being battle-hardened by a clash against Arsenal in a London derby.
Eden Hazard could yet prove to be the PFA Player of the Year this season considering that the Belgium looks set to occupy an advanced position for the Blues this term, while N’Golo Kante has never played further forward and will sit in front of Jorginho.
Maurizio Sarri looks set to field a four-man defence including David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger as a strong central defensive pairing and there’s the expensive Kepa between the sticks.
Newcastle will attempt to tame their opponents and might make it to half-time on level terms, although the Magpies could be stretched over time and we’re happy to get with Chelsea to get the job done come the final whistle.
