Tottenham v Liverpool Premier League betting preview and tips
Tottenham look a big price to claim a Wembley win over a Reds team who didn’t convince in their last match
It’s been four wins from four games for Liverpool, with supporters starting to dream about a first championship title since 1990, although Jurgen Klopp continues to preach caution at such an early juncture of the campaign.
Defensively, the Merseyside team look a good deal stronger than last season, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez looking like a compact unit in the middle of the park and they are flanked by the adventurous pair of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.
Alisson made a howler at Leicester but still looks an upgrade on Lorus Karius and they will head to Wembley as slight favourites to win against a team who can also be expected to challenge for top honours in England this term.
Tottenham began the season with a win at Newcastle and a victory over Fulham before they claimed a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. Just as supporters were crowing about not needing to spend money, they were outmuscled at Watford.
That said, they are back at a ground where they are now familiar and will receive the lion’s share of the backing as Harry Kane looks to get among the goals as he did against Liverpool last time out.
Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli continue to rove forward in support of their prolific teammate, with Lucas Moura making the most of Son Heung-min’s absence although the South Korean could be available for selection for this one.
The Spurs defence is pretty strong and features Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld at the heart of things, although a note of caution is that Tottenham are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this term.
Even so, we don’t feel that Liverpool have exactly looked convincing away from home this season, despite winning at Palace and Leicester. The latter victory saw the Foxes come right back into the game from 2-0 down and the Reds were wobbling.
All things considered, Spurs can be backed at odds-against on the Asian Handicap with a degree of confidence.
