We saw both of these Premier League clubs change their manager last season although Javi Gracia and Roy Hodgson seem to be on a more solid footing, with both men coming in last term and steering the teams to respectable positions in the top flight.

Watford were tipped for relegation by many although there was little indication that the Hornets would be in a dogfight this term, with Roberto Pereyra scoring two goals against Brighton to enable a winning start to the 2018/19 season.

It’s worth noting that Pereyra finished last season with three goals in his final six games and the Argentine is looking in good nick although Crystal Palace will have done their homework and the Eagles are also looking strong at the start of the season.

Hodgson is one of the most underrated managers in England, partially because of his time with the national squad which didn’t end particularly well.

However, he has kept Wilfried Zaha at Selhurst Park despite interest from other parties, with the Palace defence starting to look strong thanks to the partnership between Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins.

Patrick van Aanholt is a marauding left-back capable of causing a few problems, with this game likely to prove to be chess-like in terms of trying to secure the opening goal.

With this in mind, we are expecting a low-scoring clash, especially as Gracia likes to get his ducks in a row from a defensive point of view and he has a habit of being able to draw out a tight 1-0 victory.
