Sweden v Romania Euro 2020 betting preview and tips
One of the most intriguing Euro 2020 qualifying sections is Group F where Spain have been drawn alongside Sweden, Norway and Romania. The Faroe Islands and Malta are also in this group but shouldn’t trouble the leading quartet too much.
While the Spanish are massive favourites to finish top of the section and feature at Euro 2020, the other qualifying spot looks to be up for grabs and all three teams will fancy their chances of turning out at this prestigious tournament.
Sweden are the second-ranked side in the group and we’re happy to back them at attractive odds to defeat Romania on 23 March and get themselves into a position of strength as a result.
Janne Andersson has done an excellent job with the national team and the fact that his side were able to reach the World Cup quarter finals without Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a remarkable achievement which owed so much to strong teamwork and resolute defending.
Sweden were able to stop Italy home and away to qualify for the World Cup before coming through a group that included Germany and beating Switzerland at the last sixteen stage before eventually being eliminated by England.
The Swedish side are built on solid foundations and they finished top of their Nations League Group, with the team recovering from a 3-2 home reverse against Turkey to keep three consecutive clean sheets.
As for Romania, they enjoyed an excellent 2018 where they didn’t lose a single match although the quality of opposition was generally modest and three of their Nations League games ended in a draw, while the other three were victories.
The Romanian squad are a fairly modest group of players, many of whom play in their native domestic league and there is plenty of reliance on Alexandru Chipciu and Alexandru Maxim in midfield when it comes to directing the play.
