Tip: Liverpool win to nil

Odds: +120

Jurgen Klopp will have been delighted with Liverpool’s quarter final draw, although the German certainly won’t be taking Porto for granted given that they’ve reached the last eight stage on merit.

Even so, the Reds clouted Porto by a 5-0 scoreline at the Estadio do Dragao last season when Liverpool clashed with the Portuguese champions before playing out a goalless draw at Anfield with the tie already decided.

Since then, Alisson is now operating between the sticks for the Merseyside team rather than Lorus Karius, while Liverpool are fresh from winning 3-1 at the Allianz Arena in the previous round after a goalless draw at home to the same opponents.

It could be a straightforward win for the English team here and we’re happy to swerve the 1/3 about Liverpool triumphing and instead bet at odds-against that the Reds win the game without conceding.

Liverpool will be desperate to avoid conceding to Porto and make sure that they enjoy a bloodless victory, with Sadio Mane currently at the peak of his powers, although Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino also provide cut and thrust.

Andrew Robertson will be missing in the left-back position after receiving a yellow card away to Bayern, although James Milner can fill a gap there and there should be plenty of opportunity for Trent Alexander-Arnold to romp forward in support of the attack.

As for Porto, they managed to come back from a 2-0 deficit against Roma to squeeze through against Roma, with the tie going into extra-time before a penalty put the Portuguese side through to the last eight.

Porto are having a right tussle with Benfica at the top of the division, although one has to question the standard of competitor that they face on a regular basis.

Liverpool will want to enjoy a 2-0 or 3-0 first leg victory and they should be capable of achieving this.
