The unstoppable force meets the immoveable object on Tuesday night, with Liverpool clashing with Paris Saint-Germain and it’s naturally hard to call a winner.

Jurgen Klopp would have preferred an easier Champions League opener than facing the champions of France and a team who can rightly be considered as contenders to win the competition this season.

PSG ran into Real Madrid last term and were soundly beaten over two legs, although Thomas Tuchel is now in charge at the Stade de France, with early signs good after five straight wins.

It helps when you have an expensively-assembled squad at your fingertips and there is plenty to like about a team which features Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani in attack.

All three of these players were shining lights for their respective countries during the 2018 World Cup, with goalkeeper Alphonse Areola looking like the future between the sticks for France and he could soon be joined in the team by defender Presnel Kimpembe.

The visitors will be in an attacking mood on Tuesday, with Liverpool also likely to be a tour de force and who can forget the way in which Roma and Manchester City were dismantled at Anfield last season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were irresistible during the knockout stage of the Champions League and look set for another genuine assault on the competition, with Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson the key acquisitions over the summer to strengthen the squad.

Both German coaches share a similar philosophy and have managed Borussia Dortmund relatively recently, with a high-scoring affair looking likely and we could see an entertaining clash between the two teams expected to ultimately qualify for the last sixteen stage of the competition.
