Red Star Belgrade v Liverpool Champions League betting preview and tips

Champions League
Tip: Liverpool win to nil
Units: 1/5
Odds: -120

It’s been a fairly miserable Champions League campaign for a Red Star team who have been handed the mother of all groups by being sectioned with Liverpool, PSG and Napoli.

They actually began in earnest fashion by landing a goalless draw against Napoli, although they have since been mauled on two occasions, with Paris Saint-Germain running riot to win 6-1 before Liverpool did a similar number on them.

It was men against boys at Anfield a fortnight ago, with Jurgen Klopp’s side shutting out their Serbian opponents with ease and the game was never in doubt once Roberto Firmino had set the wheels in motion in the 20th minute.

While Mohamed Salah grabbed the headlines after scoring twice in this game, it was the performances of Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson that really stood out, with the pair clearly representing the long-term future of the club.

Liverpool now have one of the most miserly defences in Europe and it’s likely that Fabinho will be asked to operate in central midfield once again and execute a number of challenges that should see Liverpool cruise to another win.

The price about the English side on the 1X2 market looks very skinny considering that this will be a different type of assignment and winning certainly proved beyond Napoli in mid-September although Carlo Ancelotti’s side are less prone to forcing the issue when needed.

Liverpool did draw a blank in Naples but it’s hard to believe that goals won’t come at the Red Star Stadium, with Klopp wanting to make sure of a victory that could effectively make sure of their qualification from a tough group.
