Holland v England Nations League preview and tips
Gareth Southgate has managed to steer England to the semi-final stage of the Nations League and, on Monday 3 December, he discovered that the Three Lions would be meeting Netherlands in their final four match.
England have had a brilliant time of things under their manager who led them to the semi-final stage of the World Cup during the summer before a fantastic time of things against Spain and Croatia.
Despite losing at home to the former in their opening match of the Nations League and then drawing 0-0 away to Croatia, they claimed a win in Betis against the Spanish and went from relegation material to qualifiers when overturning a deficit against the Croats.
Southgate has been able to use different players since the World Cup and he’ll be spoilt for choice on 6 June when England line up against the Dutch who have their own special back story for how they came to be among the four teams left standing.
The Netherlands were given little hope of emerging from a group that couldn’t have looked any stronger thanks to the presence of France and Germany, with the Dutch opening with a loss in the same way that England did.
This was followed by a 3-0 win over Germany which indicated that Ronald Koeman was reassembling the squad and restoring some confidence following a failure to reach the 2018 World Cup.
Better was to follow when the Dutch claimed a 2-0 victory over France although they then trailed 2-0 away to Germany in their final game before a heroic comeback saw them go through and Die Mannschaft were left with the prospect of playing in Nations League B.
The match will be played in Portugal and we’re confident that England will carry on their upward trajectory and claim a place in the Nations League final against either Portugal or Switzerland.
