Bosnia-Herzegovina v Northern Ireland Betting Tips & Predictions
Northern Ireland have the proverbial mountain to climb if they are to qualify for Euro 2020, although they have an excellent manager in Michael O’Neill who steered them to Euro 2016 and will fancy his chances of a final hurrah with this proud team.
O’Neill now has a dual role considering he’s now manager of Stoke City although he will have total focus on the job in hand at the Bilino Polje Stadium, with Bosnia and Herzegovina among the toughest teams that they could possibly face.
Dušan Bajević’s side were only able to finish fourth in Group J although they trounced Finland 4-1 along the way and they can still rely on the evergreen Edin Dzeko, with the former Manchester City man having scored 58 goals in 107 appearances for his country.
Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic also offers quality and it’s clear to see why the Bosnians are trading as odds-on favourites considering that they will count on home advantage against modest opposition.
However, the pressure is all on Bosnia and the likely scenario is that O’Neill will set his team up defensively and hope that they can prosper on the counter-attack or from any set pieces that are earned along the way.
Realistically, it was always going to be a tall order to finish ahead of the Netherlands or Germany in Northern Ireland’s qualifying group, although a 6-1 hammering in Frankfurt was the only time that the floodgates really opened.
Jonny Evans and Craig Cathcart can both add steel from a defensive point-of-view considering they are established Premier League defenders, while captain Steven Davis, Corry Evans and Stuart Dallas are all capable on the international stage.
There is a huge potential prize at stake for both of these teams and we can’t help but feel as though this game is destined to end in a low-scoring fashion, with Under 2.5 Goals looking like the safe option.
