Genk v Liverpool Betting Tips & Predictions
It’s been an eventful start to the Champions League group stage for Liverpool, with last year’s champions of Europe getting turned over in Naples (again), while they made hard work of beating Red Bull Salzburg.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are sitting pretty ahead of a double header against Genk and there’s a strong reason for thinking that Liverpool will land six points from their two matches against Belgian opponents.
The Reds are sitting top of the Premier League and boast a 100% record at the time of writing, with Sadio Mane in electric form, while Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino continue to operate well in tandem.
While Napoli recently failed to score at the Luminus Arena when drawing 0-0 against the same opponents, the Italian side missed several chances to score against Genk and we should expect Liverpool to enjoy more success in front of goal.
Let’s not forget that Felice Mazzu’s team conceded six goals against Salzburg in their opening group game and it will be tough to withstand the constant assault from the visitors, especially from the full-back areas where Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are so dynamic.
Naturally, Liverpool are trading prohibitively short to win this clash, although they can be backed at a much bigger price to claim a victory without conceding and we believe that the Merseyside team can dominate this match.
Virgil van Dijk will be out to make sure that the defence is far more robust than was the case against Salzburg where the English side led the game 3-0 before inexplicably conceding three goals and needing to go again to score a winner.
Alisson Becker also appears to be getting his fitness after suffering an early season injury and we think the Brazilian should be able to celebrate a clean sheet as part of a Liverpool victory here.
