Club Brugge v Man Utd Betting Tips & Predictions
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Manchester United’s only way of reaching next season’s Champions League is by winning the Europa League, something that they managed to do three seasons ago under Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils’ last 32 opponents are Club Brugge who began the season in the Champions League but were largely unable to lay a glove on Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain. However, the Belgian side did finish third ahead of Galatasaray in the group and will now look to land a first leg advantage.
Philippe Clement’s side are nine points clear at the top of their domestic division, with the Blauw-Zart boasting an outstanding record at the Jan Breydel Stadium where they have conceded just three goals in twelve home matches.
However, we should bear in mind that the Belgian First Division A isn’t particularly competitive and they were smashed to smithereens against PSG during the group stages, while Real Madrid also came away with a handsome win.
Not that Manchester United are at the same level as those teams and we certainly can’t rely on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team to claim victory in this match, especially when they don’t actually need to get a win in this first leg encounter.
The English side are missing their best striker in Marcus Rashford and the Red Devils were largely uninspiring away from home during the group phase where they landed a goalless draw away to AZ and claimed a 1-0 victory in Partizan.
Similarly, United have won just three of their twelve away games in the Premier League at the time of writing and the stats simply suggest that we can’t have faith in the visitors to overpower their modest opponents.
However, the visitors are capable of keeping things tight in these sort of matches, with Harry Maguire marshalling the defence and the Under 2.5 Goals price looks pretty fair.
