Wales are the betting outsiders to get the better of Switzerland at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, although there’s a strong case for the Welsh side to enjoy a positive opening result at Euro 2020, with the team recently enjoying 1-0 wins over Mexico and Czech Republic before losing 3-0 to France.
Wales vs Switzerland Preview
Much depends on the form of Gareth Bale when it comes to the European Championship although the Real Madrid star has often reserved his best performances for his country and the same applies to Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey who is an experienced campaigner at international level.
Our prediction is that Wales can avoid defeat considering that they generally make themselves difficult to beat, with Tottenham’s Joe Rodon one to watch in central defence and Wayne Hennessey has been the long-time goalkeeper between the sticks.
Many of these players helped their country land a semi-final spot at Euro 2016. Admittedly this was five years ago, although Kieffer Moore has looked strong for Cardiff this season and adds a cutting edge that they didn’t always have at the previous tournament.
Our tip is to bet on Wales or the Draw on the Asian Handicap +0.5 betting market, with this meaning that we cover two of the three available options on the Full-Time Result market, with Switzerland certainly worth opposing.
While the Swiss have a clutch of recent wins, it was a walkover victory against Ukraine and the other opponents can be filed under the modest category, with the team having failed to win any of the seven games played between September and November 2020.
These clashes were against higher quality opponents and there’s not actually much between these two squads, so we’ll take the betting value and go against an unexciting Switzerland side as Wales look to Bale for inspiration.OUR PREDICTION 1 Asian Handicap +0.5 @ 1.70 Bet Now T&C apply.
