Mayweather v McGregor big fight preview

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor clash on Saturday 26 August for one of the most eagerly anticipated boxing fights of all time.

The man known as Money would never have thought that his 50th professional fight would come against a fighter who has never participated in a boxing match before.

However, Conor McGregor is no ordinary contender and this is no ordinary fight. It’s hard to think of a bout which has received so much media attention, with a Mixed Martial Arts fighter throwing down the gauntlet and challenging Mayweather in Las Vegas.

Floyd Mayweather is an eleven-time, five-division professional boxing world champion and it’s therefore no surprise to find the American trading at 1.25 (1/4) with bet365 to claim victory in this match.

Actually, some might be surprised that Money is trading at such big odds considering his track record which marks him down as a true boxing legend.

Mayweather has won all 49 of his fights and some of his opponents have also been fierce competitors including Manny Pacquiao, winning comfortably on points and illustrating that he’s arguably the greatest fighter of all time.

However, the bookmakers report that all their liabilities are on McGregor, someone who has earned his reputation from Mixed Martial Arts and establishing himself as a global star of the UFC.

McGregor is no bigger than 5.00 (4/1) to win the fight and it appears that a fleet of punters (including many Irish customers) have decided to back someone who is burning with inner confidence and will hope to have the resolve to stop Mayweather in his tracks.

Many expect Mayweather to prove way too strong for his opponent and you can currently get odds of 1.72 (8/11) about him claiming a victory by either KO, TKO or Disqualification.

Alternatively, Mayweather can be backed at 3.75 (11/4) with bet365 to enjoy a Decision or Technical Decision victory, although it’s hard to see how McGregor might last twelve rounds with his adversary.

The Round Betting has attracted plenty of interest, with odds of 26.00 (25/1) available with William Hill that the favourite lands a first round victory and essentially humiliates McGregor in the process.

A Mayweather win on points is an 3.75 (11/4) chance with bet365, while you can get 15.00 (14/1) with the same firm about a seventh round win for Money.
