Brazil v Peru Betting Tips
Brazil and Peru meet at the 2019 Copa America for the second time on Sunday, although this match happens to be the final, with the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro playing host to a clash which sees the tournament hosts trading as strong favourites.
It’s easy to understand why the Brazilians are available at such short odds. Tite’s men are playing at home for starters, with the Selecao having beaten Argentina 2-0 in the semi-final to reach this stage of the competition and they were also overwhelming winners when beating Peru during the group stage.
In Sao Paulo, Brazil put Los Incas to the sword, with Casemiro, Roberto Firmino and Everton all scoring first-half goals before Dani Alves and Willian capped an emphatic 5-0 victory.
However, it’s important to note that the Peruvians already had four points on the board when they played that final group game, with a goalless draw against Venezuela being followed up by a 3-1 triumph against Bolivia.
Ricardo Gareca’s side then triumphed against the odds to knock a tenacious Uruguay team out at the quarter final stage, with Peru winning on penalties. However, they were then able to put Chile firmly to the sword in the semi-final when winning by a 3-0 scoreline.
It was a result that nobody could have predicted and there will be no pressure on a team who responded strongly to criticism when they were thrashed by Brazil earlier in the tournament, with the outsiders likely to be better prepared this time around.
Chile manager Reinaldo Rueda admitted his team were surprised by the Peruvians in the semi-final and there will be a fair degree of pressure on the Brazilians in front of an expectant crowd.
It hasn’t always been plain sailing for Tite’s team considering that Venezuela and Paraguay held them to goalless draws, with Peru looking a decent bet on the Asian Handicap with a 1.5 goal start.
